Lawn, Borders and Plant Design
I was invited to collaborate with a contractor and client relationship that was ongoing in Eastbourne. The new porcelain paving surface and bespoke cedar wood fencing had been finished and soil levels were being created. I suggested a soft landscaping solution of lawn shapes and plant choices and together with the client, ordered plants and did the planting. We agreed a plan of repeating the use of birch trees throughout as the large existing one near the house was setting a fine precedent. Other structural plants include acers, nyssa, parrotia, photinia, tree fern, and a strong repetition of evergreen magnolias to be trained along the back fence. The focus of flowers was placed on summer colour, so the use of many perennials were used including agapanthus, salvias, gaura, perovskia, asters, hemerocallis. I recently planted a lot of new bulbs in the autumn and look forward to building the use of colour. Recent photo updates 2021.
