About me

I enjoy the process of helping clients to find exactly what they would most like from their garden space. I help them to evolve their current gardens or start from scratch and design and construct new spaces.

I do this by creating a variety of elements within a project including new lawn shapes, patios, arches, fences, trellis work, water features and rockeries. An element I'm passionate about is the planting. This can be done in a modern or traditional way. I like to celebrate a variety of shapes and sizes to create interest, depending on the design. Many clients like evergreen, 'low maintenance' plant combinations. Other clients are keen gardeners and like to enjoy more complexity.

Design work (paper plans) costing is flexible based on the complexities of the request. Once the design is finished I can introduce clients to trusted landscapers, and I can also get involved in the sourcing of plants and planting.

I have many happy memories of design, landscaping and maintenance projects over the years since 2002 when I started as a maintenance gardener, growing my skills and collaborating with friends/colleagues, building many small and medium sized projects.  I continue to do some maintenance work in addition to the majority of my time spent on design.

I love getting outside and working in the garden. I'm Canadian born and left there in my early twenties, but have spent over thirty years now in the UK with my English wife, and I'm still loving Britain. I miss the land, friends and family back in Canada, but the poetry of people and place we have in this country keeps me here.  Even more so now that we've made it to Devon.

I have also grown my 'eye' over the years with a love of art...mainly watercolours :  https://www.joemusselwhite.com
